Snorkeling Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands; world class under water experiences

A quick dive to your left and you see a blue footed booby is fishing where you are snorkeling, below you feeding marine iguanas are munching away. Surrounding you is a group of sea lions playing monkey in the middle (you are the monkey in this case). You catch movement out of the corner of your eye long enough to see a school of penguins dart by (yes penguins on the equator). Turn right in time to witness a dreamy scene of marine tortoises flying along. Welcome to the amazing world of snorkeling and diving in the Galapagos islands.

Diving or snorkeling?

Snorkeling goes best with a Galapagos trip that includes hiking and maybe a day trip in a speed boat for diving. Scuba diving in Galapagos is best on a trip that is only diving. The best dive sites are not near the best land and snorkel sites. The diving is strong intermediate to advanced in cold water with steep walls and powerful currents. A scuba diving trip is more expensive, a hiking and snorkeling trip is more cost efficient. A hiking and snorkel trip can be done with no prior experience by swimmers and non swimmers alike. Any way you visit, the Galapagos is phenomenal.

Travel on a yacht or small ship

To get out to the best and most diverse land and snorkel areas of Galapagos we recommend traveling on a small yacht where you will snorkel and hike or scuba dive during the day and make miles at night while you sleep. This is a comfortable, safe and efficient way to explore the best of Galapagos!
