A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the inspiration for Charles Darwin's famous book, "The Origin of Species, " the Galapagos Islands are a paradise for nature lovers. Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and consisting of 19 islands, the Galapagos is home to a variety of unusual marine species and land animals. While accommodations are limited to four islands, there are a few all-inclusive resorts.
The largest island in the Galapagos, Isabela is one of the most volcanically active places in the world and has only around 2, 000 inhabitants. Located on the ocean, both the Red Mangrove Isabela Lodge and the Red Mangrove Isabela Divers Lodge next door feature all-inclusive packages and tours. From day trips to 11-day adventures, guests can either take one of the hotel's planned tours or customize their journey.
One of the most popular destinations in the Galapagos and home to Galapagos National Park, the Charles Darwin Research Center and the tourist hub of Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz has only a few all-inclusive options. Nestled on the sand in Puerto Ayora, the Finch Bay Eco Hotel is an all-inclusive eco-friendly resort. The hotel offers snorkeling, kayaking, mountain biking and hiking, and is walking distance to the Charles Darwin Research Center.
With one of the only major airports in the Galapagos, San Cristobal is a popular destination for visitors beginning and ending their tour of the islands. The oceanfront Casa Opuntia offers a number of vacation packages, including the six-day "Naturalist Explorer" and the seven-day "Multiactive Adventure, " featuring volcano hiking, sea kayaking, mountain biking and snorkeling.
